We’re enhancing our programming and operations to offer Texas Authors a safer, better way to earn their fair share from book sales.

Thank you for your patience and your support of Texas writers. We’re working to bring the shop back with stronger tools, clearer protections, and a better experience for both authors and readers.

If you’re a Texas author and want to be notified when we reopen—or you’d like information about participating—please reach out.

A Road to Texas 200 Literacy Campaign

Invite readers to support literacy while helping you grow as an author.

Read Texas Forward is a simple author-table fundraising program connected to the Road to Texas 200: The Texas Authors 2036 Campaign. It gives readers an easy way to support literacy and Texas authors while giving participating authors credit toward eligible TAMIH services.

How the Program Works

Participating authors receive a Read Texas Forward sign to display at their events.

Readers scan the sign’s QR code and donate any amount they choose.

Every dollar donated through your author sign gives you equal credit toward eligible TAMIH services.

Simple. Easy. Effective.

This program is designed to work at almost any author event, including:

Book festivals
Author signings
Library events
School programs
Vendor fairs
Community markets
Speaking engagements
Texas Authors events

You simply display the sign at your table and invite readers to scan if they would like to support literacy and Texas authors.

Why Authors Should Join

Read Texas Forward gives authors a practical way to turn reader goodwill into real support.

By participating, you can:

Support literacy
Support Texas authors
Help strengthen Texas storytelling
Earn TAMIH service credit
Connect your author table to the Road to Texas 200 campaign

There is no complicated setup and no extra product to sell.

Author Service Credit

For every dollar donated through your assigned Read Texas Forward QR code, you receive an equal amount in service credit toward eligible TAMIH services.

Examples:

Donations Raised Through Your Sign TAMIH Service Credit
$25 $25 credit
$50 $50 credit
$100 $100 credit
$250 $250 credit

Service credit may be used toward approved TAMIH services such as marketing support, advertising opportunities, consultations, workshops, event opportunities, membership upgrades, promotional programs, and other eligible services.

Credits have no cash value and may only be used toward approved TAMIH services.

Why Readers Will Support It

Readers often want to help authors and literacy but may not know the best way to do it.

This program gives them a quick, simple option:

Scan. Donate any amount. Help Texas read forward.

Their gift supports literacy, Texas authors, and the larger mission of the Texas Authors Museum & Institute of History.

Part of Road to Texas 200

Read Texas Forward is part of the larger Road to Texas 200: The Texas Authors 2036 Campaign, a long-term effort to support readers, writers, Texas literary history, and the future of storytelling leading up to Texas’ bicentennial in 2036.

Every participating author helps move that mission forward.

Request Your QR Sign

Authors who want to participate can request a personalized Read Texas Forward QR sign.

Once approved, you will receive the materials needed to begin using the program at your events.

Want a simple way to thank a real reader with a real gift—without guessing their size, their style, or what design they’d actually wear?

The TAMIH Reader Appreciation Gift Certificate lets you do exactly that.

You purchase a certificate (good for one year), award it to a reader, and then they choose their favorite design from the current Reader Appreciation collection. Once they redeem it, TAMIH handles the rest—we produce, process, and ship a matched set featuring the same design across all items:

  • 1 T-shirt

  • 1 mug

  • 1 sticker

This isn’t a generic gift card that gets forgotten. It’s a clean, branded “thank you” that becomes a wearable, shareable badge of support—something your reader can show off online and in the real world.

Why authors love it:

  • You look professional (and generous) without creating extra work for yourself

  • No awkward size-guessing or shipping logistics

  • The reader gets choice, so redemption rates go up

  • The set matches, so it feels intentional—not random

  • It builds loyalty: readers remember the author who recognized them

Perfect for:

  • newsletter giveaways and milestones

  • ARC / street-team thank-yous

  • contest prizes and launch-day rewards

  • bookstore/event appreciation gifts

  • “you stuck with me this year” reader recognition

You buy it. You award it. They pick the design. TAMIH fulfills and ships.
If you want readers to feel seen—and keep coming back—this is one of the easiest, most meaningful ways to do it.
